In the 1950s, Marina Chapman was a young girl living in Colombia when she was kidnapped from her village at the age of around 4 or 5. After her abduction, she was abandoned in the jungle, left to fend for herself in a hostile environment filled with dangerous animals.
Survival Among Monkeys
Marina was discovered by a group of capuchin monkeys, who surprisingly accepted her into their community. She spent several years living among them, learning to survive by mimicking their behavior. She ate what the monkeys ate—fruits, nuts, and roots—and moved through the jungle in the same way they did.
Return to Human Society
Eventually, Marina was found by hunters who took her from the jungle. She was sold to a brothel, but managed to escape and lived on the streets before being taken in by a family. She was eventually adopted and began a new chapter in her life, though her early experiences shaped her deeply.
A Remarkable Life
Marina’s extraordinary story was eventually revealed to the world when she shared her experiences in her memoir, The Girl With No Name. Despite the incredible circumstances of her childhood, she was able to reintegrate into society and build a life for herself in England.
