Defying Limits Without Arms

Early Life and Education

Born on February 2, 1983, in Sierra Vista, Arizona, Jessica Cox entered the world without arms due to a rare birth defect. She graduated from the University of Arizona in 2005 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a minor in communications.

Martial Arts Achievements

At the age of 14, Cox decided to stop using prosthetic arms. She pursued Taekwondo and became the first armless black-belt in the American Taekwondo Association.

Aviation Milestone

On October 10, 2008, Cox earned her pilot’s license, becoming the world’s first licensed armless pilot. She trained in a 1946 415C Ercoupe aircraft, which does not require foot pedals, allowing her to control the plane entirely with her feet.

Beyond the Cockpit

In addition to flying, Cox is an accomplished motivational speaker, sharing her story to inspire others. She has also engaged in activities such as surfing and scuba diving, demonstrating that physical limitations do not define one’s potential.
