A Journey Like No Other
From 1985 to 1995, Emilio Scotto embarked on the longest motorcycle adventure ever, riding 456,729 miles across 279 countries. What began as a dream became a 10-year odyssey where he circumnavigated the globe twice, encountering both extreme challenges and unforgettable moments.
A Ride Full of Challenges
Scotto’s journey was marked by robberies, natural disasters, and even run-ins with armed men. Despite being shot at, jailed multiple times, and facing a brutal sandstorm in the Sahara, he pressed on, driven by his desire to experience the world. His most significant challenges came from crossing the Amazon, where he took a boat up the river to reach Manaus, Brazil, after realizing there were no roads through the jungle.
Unexpected Encounters
Along the way, Scotto’s interactions were often unpredictable. In Nicaragua, soldiers mistook him for a CIA agent, and in Africa, he narrowly avoided poisoning by a tribe. However, he also encountered unexpected kindness, like villagers in Honduras who repaired his bike for free.
The Ultimate Adventure
By the time he finished, Scotto had traveled through every continent, including a dramatic detour through the Iron Curtain and Mongolia. After 10 years, his Gold Wing, the “Black Princess,” had gone through 86 tires, 12 batteries, and countless adventures, solidifying Scotto’s place in history.
