The Airline That Never Took Off

A Bold Ambition

USGlobal Airways, originally founded as Baltia Air Lines in 1989 by Igor Dmitrowsky, aimed to connect New York City with the Soviet Union. Despite receiving U.S. Department of Transportation approval in the 1990s, the airline never completed a single commercial flight.

Troubled History

Baltia’s certification attempts were plagued by delays and financial struggles. The company purchased multiple planes over the years, including Boeing 747s, but failed to secure the funds or pass required safety tests. Most of the aircraft were eventually scrapped.

A Rebranding Effort

In 2017, the company rebranded as USGlobal Airways and planned to operate out of Stewart International Airport. However, financial disputes, including an $8.85 million claim from Logistics Air, and the failed acquisition of Songbird Airways, stalled its progress.

An Airline in Name Only

As of 2024, USGlobal Airways remains uncertified, having failed FAA tests multiple times. It has not generated revenue outside of investor funds, and the SEC revoked its stock registration in 2018. Aviation experts widely consider it unlikely to ever operate.
