The Time Traveler Who Vanished: The Story of John Titor

Mysterious Arrival on the Airwaves

In 1998, two faxes arrived at the offices of Coast to Coast AM, a popular paranormal radio show hosted by Art Bell. The sender claimed to be a time traveler from the year 2036. Signing as “TimeTravel_0,” he warned of a future shaped by catastrophe: the aftermath of Y2K, a civil war in the United States, and a global nuclear conflict in 2015.

The Online Chronicles Begin

In November 2000, TimeTravel_0 began posting detailed messages on the Time Travel Institute forums. Later adopting the name “John Titor,” he described time travel technology, explained the structure of his time machine, and claimed to be on a stopover in the year 2000 for personal reasons—retrieving old family photos and visiting relatives.

The IBM 5100 Mission

Titor stated he was sent to 1975 to collect an IBM 5100 computer, citing its undocumented ability to emulate older systems. He claimed his grandfather had worked on its original programming, which contributed to his selection for the mission.

Unraveled Threads

After his final post in March 2001, speculation surged. Investigators later linked the story to a Florida lawyer, Larry Haber, and his brother Richard, a computer expert. No one has publicly claimed authorship, and the true identity behind John Titor remains unknown.
