The Heaviest Man Ever Recorded

Early Life and Weight Struggles

Jon Brower Minnoch was born in 1941 in Washington, USA. From a young age, Minnoch’s weight rapidly increased, and by the time he was 12, he weighed nearly 300 pounds. He suffered from obesity throughout his life, which only escalated as he grew older.

Medical Crisis

By 1978, Minnoch reached an astounding weight of approximately 1,400 pounds (635 kg). His obesity led to heart and respiratory failure, forcing him to be hospitalized. The medical team believed Minnoch’s weight gain was due to a condition called massive generalized edema, where his body retained an extreme amount of fluid.

Hospitalization and Weight Loss

Minnoch spent two years in the hospital, where doctors put him on a strict diet. He lost 924 pounds (419 kg) in 16 months, the largest documented weight loss ever recorded at the time.

Final Years

Despite the weight loss, Minnoch’s health continued to decline. He passed away in 1983 at the age of 41.
