The Yowie is a creature rooted deeply in Australian Aboriginal folklore. Descriptions of the Yowie vary, but it is generally depicted as a large, ape-like humanoid. Aboriginal tribes across Australia have their own names and stories for the Yowie, with some describing it as a benevolent protector of the land and others as a fearsome predator.
